The District of North Vancouver has announced it's cancelling the annual Halloween fireworks show at Inter River Park this year.
"The decision was made earlier this year and the concern was with the cost," Jeanine Bratina, spokesperson for the DNV told The Outlook Thursday, Oct. 15.
A yearly event since 2003, the district cancelled the event after funding dried up.
It costs roughly $25,000 to put on the show, Bratina said, adding the district typically puts forward $10,000 with the balance coming from sponsors or through donations.
Bratina explained the current economic climate was the reason for the drop in funding.
"We know for sure that it's cancelled for this year," she said, adding she can't say whether the fireworks will return in the future.
