On 8th Jan, a campaign co-launched by Xiamen police and Xiamen Fireworks Security Management Team (Xiamen belongs to Fujian province,China)was held on Zhongshan Road to publicize the fireworks ban in the city during this year's Chinese Spring Festival period.
According to Zhang Bin, deputy director of Xiamen Public Security Bureau, police inspections on fireworks began 31th Dec, 2010 and will last until 18th Feb, 2011.
Besides regular inspections and patrol, Xiamen police will also supervise illegal activities under the assistance of all the monitoring deivces in the city. Meanwhile, police indicated that they may open cases involving illegally set off firecrackers for investigation in the future.
On the same day, police in Siming and Xiang’an District of Xiamen also launched campaigns on publicizing the fireworks ban.
According to this year's regulation, residents who tip off police of those who violate the ban by dialing 110 or reporting the case at a local police station will be rewarded in the range of 2,000 yuan to 5,000 yuan.
