About 80,000 people gathered along the shore of Lake Burley Griffin to see the Skyfire fireworks on March 21 night.
Police say crowds were well behaved, although 31 youths were taken into custody for underage drinking.
Meanwhile ACT Tourism Minister Andrew Barr says there are lessons to be learnt from the inaugural Enlighten Festival.
The two-week event coincided with the Canberra Festival and encompassed light shows, after hours openings at some national institutions and live music concerts.
Mr Barr says the feedback has been positive but there are still improvements to be made.
"I'm hearing that a number of the after dark experiences at the institutions sold out very early so do we need more nights like that," he said.
"The concerts have been very popular amongst the fan bases of each of the artists but there were some questions raised about whether we need to get some artists who might appeal to a slightly younger audience as well."
Mr Barr says he hopes more institutions will participate in next year's enlighten festival.
"Getting some more of the national institutions involved as partners will be critical to its ongoing success," he said.
"The great distances that there are between attractions in the Parliamentary Triangle has been a challenge in the first year in that having the National Gallery, the National Library, Old Parliament House and Parliament House involved, there is quite a distance between those institutions."
