COLUMBUS -- Organizers said they're planning an extra-long Independence Day fireworks show in Columbus as the city celebrates its bicentennial this year.
Mayor Michael Coleman said the annual "Red, White & Boom" celebration on July 3 will feature its biggest fireworks show yet.
The show is synchronized with music and draws a half-million spectators each year.
The Columbus Dispatch reported the show is slated to last 26 minutes, or three minutes longer than in 2011.
The show caps a daylong event featuring games, entertainment, concessions and a parade.
The event's executive director said the cost should be comparable to 2011''s expense, which totaled about $550,000
